Neither the heat nor the accumulated fatigue of 4 days of congress could discourage more than 50 participants who ran to the summit of Cerro San Cristóbal, in the Metropolitan Park of Santiago, one of the emblematic natural and tourist landmarks of the capital that hosted the XLI Latin American Congress of Neurosurgery CLAN 2024.
And it was at 3:00 p.m. sharp on Friday, October 25, the last day of the CLAN, the race started with neurosurgeons from all over Latin America, gathered in a social and healthy living activity unprecedented in the history of these meetings.
For Felipe Cifuentes, a Neurosurgery resident at the UC and organizer of the activity, «this was a very gratifying and enriching experience. Organizing this sporting event together with my fellow residents, at such an important congress, allowed us to promote not only physical health among the participants, but also strengthened the spirit of community and collaboration, something essential in our medical specialty. We deeply appreciate the participation of all attendees and the enthusiasm they demonstrated. We hope that activities like these will continue to be part of future editions of the congress, promoting unity and well-being in the Latin American neurosurgical community.»
The Marathon to Cerro San Cristóbal was part of the social program of CLAN Chile 2024 and preceded the Closing Ceremony and Dinner a few hours later, which took place at the Metropolitan Santiago, formerly Casa Piedra.
