SUMMARY:Cleveland Spine Review: Hands-On 2022
DESCRIPTION:Cleveland Spine Review: Hands-On 2022 is a comprehensive course utilizing the cadaver laboratory and didactic sessions with ample time for discussion. This intensive course emphasizes the fundamentals of spine surgery\, particularly biomechanical considerations\, and the surgery decision-making process. Through intensive\, hands-on sessions utilizing cadavers\, participants study surgical techniques and strategies for a range of procedures including occipitocervical\, cervical\, thoracic\, and lumbar fixation techniques. Complex surgical exposures in all regions of the spine are emphasized. Led by experienced faculty\, the course examines the multiple adjuncts to surgery\, including soft tissue and bone retractors and distractors\, minimally invasive surgical techniques\, spinal implants (from multiple vendors)\, and dissection tools. Non-operative strategies are also emphasized. Significant time is dedicated to operative indication discussions. The problem-based decision-making process is introduced and emphasized during these very interactive discussions. This activity has been approved for AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™\, ANCC Contact Hours\, and AAPA Category 1 CME Credits \nFor more information please contact Martha Tobin at 216.445.3449 or tobinm@ccf.org \nTo view the full brochure and course agenda\, please visit https://www.clevelandclinicmeded.com/live/courses/CSR22/

SUMMARY:Complex Surgical Approaches to the Skullbase
DESCRIPTION:This intimate 3-day dissection-centered course forces on complex skull base approaches including the fronto-orbitozygomatic\, pericavernous\, middle fossa anterior petrosectomy\, translabyrinthine\, far lateral. All material is presented in an immersive 3D format in Weill Cornell’s state-of-the-art Neurosurgical Innovations and Training Center. Participating surgeons work at 3-D interactive cadaver workstations\, where they watch cadaveric dissections and review surgical anatomy—all in 3D—before and during their own dissection. The combination of the 3-D virtual reality environment and the cadaveric hands-on dissection affords surgeons excellent preoperative training and rehearsal of current\, complex approaches in cranial base surgery.

SUMMARY:Transorbital Skull Base Surgery: International Hands-On Course
DESCRIPTION:The hands-on lab module for this course is now sold out. You may register to attend the lectures in person\, or you may attend remotely. All lecture-only registrations will have access to a live stream of the lab module. \nPlease join us for an innovative course that will teach surgeons how to perform a new approach for surgical access to the skull base: the endoscopic transorbital. The goals of the course are to teach surgeons how to perform these new approaches as well as their indications\, contraindications\, and limitations. There is currently a gap in the ability of surgeons to perform these new approaches since they are not learned during a standard residency in any specialty. This course — only the second such hands-on course in the world — will address this critical need. \nRegister now

SUMMARY:XIV International Turkish Spine Congress
DESCRIPTION:Dear Colleagues\, \nWe have planned the XIV International Turkish Spine Congress as a virtual meeting between October 6-9\, 2021. However\, we received many feed-back from our participants to organize the congress face-to-face. \nThe Board of Turkish Spine Society and the Congress Organizing Committee carefully evaluated those feedbacks. From our colleagues and the industry and considered that the online congress would not meet both scientific and social expectations. For that reason\, we decided to hold the congress as a live meeting between May 25-28\, 2022\, as in previous years. \nInvited speakers will not change and the evaluation of oral presentations will be made again for new dates. Scientific program\, congress venue and logistics information will be notified as soon as possible. \nThank you very much for your support. \nHoping to meet with health and safety in 2022… \nRegards\, \nORGANIZATION SECRETARIAT

SUMMARY:3rd Balkan Rhino Forum
DESCRIPTION:Dear friends and colleagues\, \nWe are delighted to announce the upcoming 3rd Balkan Rhino Forum\, which will be held on 7-9 April 2022. After a long year of pandemic – related restrictions\, we are looking forward to meeting in person again and welcoming you in the historic city of Athens\, Greece. \nOne of the most ancient cities in the world\, trying to find its pace in the 21st century\, Athens’ history mirrors in many ways the history of the Balkan peninsula: Multicultural\, vivid\, traditional yet modern\, it has a lot to offer. Modern art and ancient museums\, breathtaking scenery and monuments\, gastronomic excellence as well as world-class night life are but a few of the reasons to visit Athens. \nThe congress will be held in Wyndham Grand Hotel\, located a stone’s throw from the Parthenon\, the picturesque district of Plaka and the National Archaeological Museum\, next to a metro station\, conveniently connecting it to “El. Venizelos” National Airport. \nOur subspecialty is changing fast and as a scientific committee\, we are doing our best to reflect this in the scientific program as much as possible. Keynote Lectures on vital and controversial topics\, open discussions where experience meets evidence – based guidelines with a focus on residents and younger colleagues to whom the future belongs. We count on them not only for “participating” but also for designing the program and shaping the content\, under the guidance of senior\, experienced colleagues. \nIn times of uncertainty\, only one thing is certain: If we have learned something from the onset of Covid19\, it is that only through commitment\, collaboration and sharing we can overcome the difficulties that lay before us. And only if science becomes “a matter of many” it can be put at the service of humanity. That is the reason that we do not wish our congress to signal a return to the previous “normality” but a new\, more open and collaborative way to share knowledge and treat our patients. \nSee you in Athens! \nOn behalf of the Scientific Committee\, \nChristos Georgalas PhD\, MRCS(Ed)\, DLO\, FRCS (ORL-HNS)\, FEBORL-HNS(Hon) \nProfessor of Surgery – Head and Neck\, Medical School\, University of Nicosia\, \nVice President\, Hellenic Rhinology Society \nBoard Member and Lead\, Rhinology Working Group\, European Board Examination (ORL-HNS) \nDirector of Head and Neck and Endoscopic Sinus and Skull Base Surgery Department\, Hygeia Hospital\, Athens\, Greece \nCongress President\, BRF 2022 \n\nPreliminary Scientific Programme (PDF)
