Encuentro de dos grandes en 1988: Prof. Gazi Yasargil y Prof. Charles Drake
En este momento difícil para los neurocirujanos del mundo, el directorio de la Sociedad de Neurocirugía de Chile lamenta profundamente la irreparable pérdida del Profesor Gazi Yasargil, quien marcó un hito en el desarrollo de la neurocirugía moderna implantando una guía fundamental para nuestras prácticas en técnicas neuroquirúrgicas y microquirúrgicas, que cambió la forma de enfrentar y hacer neurocirugía.
Gran persona, destacado por su dedicación a sus pacientes y la enseñanza a sus discípulos, sin egoísmos ni distinciones compartió y difundió su conocimiento a todos.
Hoy el mundo neuroquirúrgico llora su partida de este mundo a otro desde donde sin duda continuará junto al Creador su camino de dedicación y enseñanza.

At this difficult time for neurosurgeons around the world, the board of the Chilean Society of Neurosurgery deeply mourns the irreparable loss of Professor Gazi Yasargil, who marked a milestone in the development of modern neurosurgery by establishing a fundamental guide for our practices in neurosurgical and microsurgical techniques, forever changing the way we approach and perform neurosurgery.
A great person, renowned for his dedication to his patients and to the teaching of his disciples, he generously and selflessly shared and disseminated his knowledge with all, without ego or distinction.
Today, the neurosurgical world grieves his departure from this world to another, from where he will undoubtedly continue, alongside the Creator, his path of dedication and teaching.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, the Yasargil Foundation, the WFNS, all the institutions he was part of, his disciples, and friends.
